Flames first broke out in a pavilion that provides accommodation for youth team players at the Viola Park complex. Once the severity of the incident became apparent, the area was quickly evacuated.

The fire continued to burn throughout the night, having started at around 2:15am, with firefighters finally getting it under control at 6:15am. There were 20 fire trucks sent to the site in a bid to tackle the blaze.
Four people, three boys and an adult, were taken to hospital for medical checks after being exposed to potentially harmful fumes. An investigation is underway in a bid to determine how the fire broke out, with the building in question now considered to be unusable.

WHAT FIORENTINA SAID
A statement released by Fiorentina read: “During the night a fire, the causes of which are still unclear, broke out inside a room in the pavilion dedicated to the youth sector of the 'Rocco B. Commisso' Viola Park.
“The alarm system, emergency procedures and the preparation of the staff present ensured the rapid evacuation of the structure. Some people were taken to hospital for checks and accompanied by our health workers, and have already been discharged in good condition. The area of the pavilion affected by the fire has, at the moment, been isolated and made safe.”
